Happy Labor Day!

Dear Sandeep,

Labor Day is not just a long weekend or the unofficial end of summer. On this day, we celebrate the enduring achievements of workers in our country.

Labor Day is rooted in the Labor Movement of the late 19th Century. At that time, Americans worked unnecessarily long hours and faced the risk of bodily injury as they toiled in unsafe working conditions. Child labor was also at its peak. The advocacy efforts of the Labor Movement earned the protections we enjoy today including safe working conditions for all Americans as well as the abolition of child labor.

In June 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed a bill into law making Labor Day a federal holiday to recognize the tremendous efforts of American workers in building what is now the world's greatest economy.

We owe a deep debt of gratitude to our workers who power our country forward each and every day. So, as you celebrate this year, please take a moment to remember those who sacrificed so much to earn us the way of life we enjoy, and to thank the workers in your life who keep our economy running today.

Thank you again for everything you do to keep America working for everyone.

Happy Labor Day!

Warm Regards,

Raja
