Raja Update 12/18

Dear Sandeep,

Last Monday, Congressman Raja joined MSNBC to talk about the fall of the Assad regime in Syria. He said that "I have been texting and talking to numerous Syrian Americans who are elated about what has happened in Syria, we have a new day."

On Tuesday, Congressman Raja joined MeidasTouch to discuss Donald Trump's nominations for leading key federal agencies. He explained "I get it the American people want a change, but I don't think they want to abolish the Department of Education, the IRS, or these other agencies."

Later, he joined NBC News to discuss updates to the TikTok law that was passed earlier this year. He argued "It is time for TikTok and ByteDance to accept the law... All three branches of government have instructed ByteDance that it is time to sell."

During the House Oversight Committee meeting on Tuesday, Congressman Raja grilled Postmaster DeJoy about the failures of the US Postal Service since DeJoy took over the agency. In telling a story about a constituent issue, Raja said "It was one of the most challenging conversations we have ever had with a constituent… a young teenager who worked her heart out to create a piece of art and we had to tell her, We are so sorry the USPS lost your art in the mail."

On Friday, Congressman Raja appeared on CNN to discuss an ongoing Congressional investigation into the Coast Gaurd Chief's mishandling of sexual abuse complaints. He asserted "We have the obligation in Congress to provide oversight, and the Coast Guard has the obligation to disclose information such as the results of this [sexual assault] investigation to Congress. We are going to demand answers to the questions we have."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
