Raja Update 2/16

Dear Sandeep,

On Tuesday, Congressman Raja appeared on CNN to discuss the US-led coalition's strikes in Yemen. When talking about the recent conflict, he said, "Whatever [the Biden administration] can do to deal with the Houthis and other militias while not disrupting those negotiations or sparking a regional war, is paramount right now."

On Wednesday, Congressman Raja had an interview with Semafor about several topics including funding for Israel and Ukraine. When discussing how others would view the United States not funding these countries, the Congressman said, "I am concerned how our friends and partners and allies would view us if we don't pass the supplemental, but I'm also equally concerned how our potential adversaries would view us."

On Thursday, Congressman Raja penned an op-ed for The Hill about Congress potentially blocking US investments in China. The Congressman wrote, "It is time for Congress to act and ensure U.S. capital and know-how stops fueling the technological advancement of the People's Liberation Army and the CCP's human rights violations."

On Friday, Congressman Raja's bill to rename the St. Charles East Side Station Post Office as the Veterans of the Vietnam War Memorial Post Office passed the US Senate with unanimous consent. When talking about the name change, he said, "I look forward to President Biden signing my bill into law soon, and to joining with local veterans in St. Charles in the coming months to celebrate the renaming of the post office in their honor."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
