Raja Update 3/16

Dear Sandeep,

Tomorrow is Election Day! If you haven't voted yet, make sure to head to the polls and make your voice heard by voting for Raja Krishnamoorthi for the U.S. Senate. Below is what you need to know about voting tomorrow in Illinois.

What time do polls open and close in Illinois?

Qll polling locations open at 6:00 a.m. CST on Election Day and close at 7:00 p.m. Voters who are in line by 7:00 p.m. are still allowed to vote, even if polls have officially closed.

How do I find my polling place?

The Illinois State Board of Elections provides a "Polling Place Lookup" tool on its website. Simply enter your address and ZIP code to find your assigned polling location.

Chicago voters may vote at their designated precinct polling place or at one of the 51 Early Voting Centers that will remain open through Election Day.

For those outside Chicago, your local county clerk's website features a polling place search tool, as well as additional information regarding the election.

Can you register to vote on Election Day in Illinois?

Yes. Although traditional voter registration closes 28 days before an election, Illinois offers a voter registration "grace period," which allows eligible voters to register and vote on the same day in person at designated locations, including on Election Day.

To register, bring two forms of identification, including one with your current address, and make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a U.S. citizen

  • You must be 18 years old by Election Day

  • You must have lived in your precinct for at least 30 days

On Monday, a group of Quincy-area leaders officially endorsed Raja's campaign for U.S. Senate, citing his proven leadership and record of delivering for working families across Illinois. Their support adds to Raja's coalition of downstate supporters that crossed the 100-leader mark in February, a powerful show of strength and momentum reflecting Raja's broad appeal in every corner of Illinois.

On Tuesday, Raja for Illinois released its final television ad of the cycle, "Personal," delivering a powerful closing message to voters. In the new spot, Raja reflects on his own story as an immigrant — and how that experience shaped his values and strengthened his resolve to take ICE head-on. "Running for office takes thick skin – I get that. But my opponent's lies about me ignore something you need to know: I'm an immigrant myself," said Raja in the new spot. "That's why stopping Trump and ICE's attacks on our communities is deeply personal to me. It's why I won't give Trump's ICE another nickel, and I'm the only one with a real plan to hold Trump accountable."

On Wednesday, Raja continued his statewide "Get Out the Vote" tour with a stop in Round Lake Beach, urging voters to make their voices heard at the polls. Raja hosted the event at Campestre Mexican Restaurant alongside elected officials and members of Teamsters Local 705. Teamsters Joint Council 25 — representing workers across Chicago, Illinois, and Northwest Indiana — has endorsed Raja's campaign. The stop marked the latest leg of Raja's final push across Illinois to mobilize volunteers and meet voters face-to-face in every region of the state before Election Day.

On Thursday, Raja brought his "Get Out the Vote" tour to IBEW Local 134 in Chicago, where labor unions across Illinois came together to rally in support of Raja for U.S. Senate. "When we look at Raja's record, we see someone who's consistently supported labor," said IBEW International VP Mike Clemmons at the event. "That's why the members of the IBEW and the 14 labor unions represented in this room today are proud to support him for United States Senate."

On Friday, Raja held a press event at a Chicago gas station alongside Jon Hurst, Director of Public Policy for the Illinois Corn Growers Association, to highlight how rising oil prices driven by President Trump's war with Iran are increasing costs for Illinois families, and to call for year-round nationwide E15 sales to help lower prices at the pump. "President Trump's illegal, unconstitutional war in Iran is pushing oil prices higher and making the affordability crisis he created even worse," said Raja. "In addition to this conflict's growing human and financial costs, it is also making life more expensive for families here at home. While ending the war must be our foremost priority, we should also be using every tool available to bring costs down. Allowing year-round E15 sales would give drivers a cheaper option at the pump while supporting Midwest farmers and strengthening American energy production — helping Illinois families weather the current price shocks and reducing long-term costs."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's efforts to stand up to Trump and fight for Illinois.
