Raja Update 7.12.21

Dear Sandeep,

We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi appeared on MSNBC this past week to discuss the infrastructure bill and Donald Trump's opposition to it. "I think that there are going to be Republicans who are going to have to decide whether to do what their constituents want, which is a bipartisan infrastructure deal, or whether they do what Donald Trump wants. I hope that they choose the former and side with their constituents in this instance."

Congressman Raja also wrote an op-ed in the Chicago Tribune proposing a new tax on e-cigarettes to help combat the youth vaping epidemic. "It's important to remember that tobacco remains our nation's leading cause of preventable death, annually accounting for 480,000 deaths — 1 out of every 5 deaths in America. Raising taxes to discourage adult use is a moral, as well as a fiscal, imperative."

Congressman Raja also appeared on WGN9 to discuss how to pass the infrastructure bill. "I think the President said it correctly the other day. We need to get the infrastructure bill first, and I hope it's on a bipartisan basis. Then we can deal with whatever is remaining, potentially through a reconciliation bill but I'm hoping for a very robust bipartisan infrastructure package. We could sure use it in Illinois."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
