Dear Sandeep,
We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.
This week, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi appeared on WGN Radio to discuss the situation in Afghanistan. "I think there's two priorities. One, trying to evacuate all US personnel from Kabul, the capital. Secondly, trying to get as many of the people that helped us out of there as possible, although I'm deeply upset about that situation in particular."
The Congressman also spoke with MSNBC about what happened in Afghanistan "It's a deeply disturbing disaster, I think I, and some of my colleagues, are chiding ourselves about drinking the kool-aid as to the effectiveness of the Afghan Government and its military forces. Of course, we also underestimated the Taliban. At this point we need to call a spade a spade and be realistic about what is happening on the ground, we need to get our people out of there and anybody who helped there. If they stay I think they will be killed by the Taliban."
Congressman Raja was also interviewed by David Axelrod on his podcast, The Axe Files, and discussed his personal history that led to him becoming a member of Congress, as well as the current situation in Afghanistan. It's well worth a listen!
We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
