Raja Update 7/30

Dear Sandeep,

Congressman Raja presented the Village of Roselle with a federal grant of $500,000 for improvements to the Roselle downtown area. "I was proud to secure $500,000 in federal funding to help Roselle complete these event spaces and make other upgrades to the municipal campus along the way. I look forward to seeing the newly designed campus in full bloom soon."

During a House Oversight Committee hearing, Congressman Raja questioned executives of the pharmaceutical industry on the increase in prescription drug prices. The Congressman pressed the industry representatives, saying, "On one hand we have PBMs claiming to reduce prescription drug prices, and on the other hand we have the Federal Trade Commission, we have major media outlets like The New York Times and we have at least eight different attorneys generals, Democrats and Republicans, who all say PBMs are inflating drug costs."

In a separate House Oversight Committee hearing, Congressman Raja examined Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheatle. While watching video preceding the assassination attempt, the Congressman told Cheatle, "that doesn't look like suspicious behavior, that looks like threatening behavior to me. That's a threat right there, the guy is on the roof and everybody is yelling at him and directing the officer's attention to him." The Congressman's line of questioning raised numerous concerns, causing him to call for Cheatle's resignation. She resigned the day after the hearing.

Finally, this past weekend, Congressman Raja recruited volunteers from IL-8 to knock on doors in Kenosha, a key battleground county in Wisconsin. The Congressman enjoyed knocking doors and getting such a warm welcome from Illinois' northern neighbor and is pushing to keep the state blue in 2024.

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
