Raja Update 7/30

Dear Sandeep,

On Tuesday, Congressman Raja was endorsed by 13 Mayors and Village Presidents in Illinois' 8th District. He stated "I am honored and grateful to have received this outpouring of support from these outstanding local leaders on both sides of the aisle. Together, we will continue to ensure that the communities that we represent have the support and resources necessary to thrive in the years to come."

Congressman Raja introduced the Protecting American Industry and Labor from International Trade Crimes Act aimed at cracking down on Chinese firms committing trade crimes. "For years, the Chinese Communist Party's predatory trade policies have violated American trade laws and victimized American companies, workers, and consumers… Our bipartisan legislation cracks down on these crimes by establishing a new unit at the Department of Justice dedicated to enforcing U.S. trade laws and holding perpetrators criminally liable."

Congressman Raja co-sponsored the Restoring Confidence in the World Anti-Doping Agency Act after it was reported that multiple Chinese athletes tested positive for steroids in 2022 but were allowed to continue swimming. The bill would allow the U.S. to withhold its roughly $3.7 million annual payments to the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Congressman Raja joined NewsNation to discuss the failures of the Secret Service saying "There's way too much finger pointing at the local law enforcement officials. The Secret Service is ultimately responsible for the whole security plan with regard to the protectee. If local law enforcement, at any point in time, said that they didn't have the resources to guard the AGR building... then the Secret Service has to spring into action."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
