Raja Update 8/13

Dear Sandeep,

Last week, Congressman Raja co-authored an op-ed for the Chicago Sun-Times opposing the merger between Kroger and Albertsons. The op-ed mentioned, "As we look toward increasing access to good-paying jobs and quality nutrition, monopolies [in supermarkets] are not going to be part of the solution. Working families and the workers that these companies rely on must not be pushed into a corner and left without options."

Later in the week, Congressman Raja was on WCPT with Joan Esposito to discuss a number of topics including the Harris-Walz campaign. While talking about the election, he noted, "I am seeing people register to vote who were completely checked out of politics three weeks ago... This is organic, the campaign has the 'it' factor."

Congressman Raja appeared on Bloomberg TV to discuss the controversial remarks former President Trump made about Vice President Harris' racial identity. He pointedly remarked, "40 million Americans are of some multi-racial background. They should be free to talk about themselves in a way they feel comfortable with. But, for some reason, Donald Trump thinks he is the decider-in-chief of people's identities."

This past weekend, Congressman Raja attended the Bud Billiken Parade, the largest African-American parade in the country, on Chicago's south side to kick off back-to-school. He was happy to see how big the crowds were and the enormous reaction he and all the Democrats got during the parade!

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
