Raja Update 6/3

Dear Sandeep,

On Wednesday, Raja joined Fox 32 to discuss his candidacy for the U.S. Senate. He said, "I've made a career of standing up to bullies from within Congress. Whether it's going after e-cigarette companies that prey on youth… or Purdue Pharmaceutical which tried to hook a whole generation on OxyContin. I went after them and got results."

Also on Wednesday, Raja was joined by Latino elected officials, business owners, and community leaders to launch "Latinos for Raja" in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. Chairing the coalition is Former Congressman Luis Gutiérrez (IL-04), who will work with his fellow endorsers to mobilize their communities to send Raja to the U.S. Senate.

On Thursday, Raja joined WTTW to discuss the economy and his campaign for the U.S. Senate. He said, "I think everywhere I go, people are very upset about their economic station in life… People want to realize their full economic potential… in Congress [I] worked on issues of economic mobility, upward mobility, [and] authoring the law that enables 11 million people each year to get a higher quality skills-based education."

Also on Thursday, Raja continued his "Trump Tariff Tour," stopping at a local manufacturing warehouse in Rockford, Illinois to highlight the devastating impact of Trump's blanket tariffs on Illinois small businesses. He said, "While we absolutely need to fight economic aggression, and we want to attract manufacturing back to America, we can't hurt the economy and working families in the process, which is what's happening right now."

On Friday, Raja joined ABC7 to discuss the illegal firearms seized at O'Hare airport. He said, "We were astonished by what you found… Namely that illegal firearms, as well as firearm accessories, are coming from China… furthering the gun epidemic that exists across the country, but also here in Illinois."

On Sunday, Raja joined Face the Nation to discuss Trump's plan to revoke visas for international students, specifically targeting those of Chinese descent. He said, "You have to remember that the people that are cheering for this policy, what Marco Rubio had called for, is the Chinese Communist Party. Why? Because they want these people back. They want the scientists and the entrepreneurs and the engineers who can come and help their economy."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's efforts to stand up to Trump and fight for Illinois.
