Dear Sandeep,
As we head into the final stretch of the election, we are deeply grateful for your continued support. With less than two weeks to go, Team Raja is firing on all cylinders across Illinois. Between Raja's constant criss-crossing of the state to meet with voters, a robust coalition of statewide support, an unmatched operation, and detailed legislative plans, Raja has momentum at his back heading into the homestretch.
This past weekend, The Daily Herald – one of the most influential and widely read newspapers in Illinois – endorsed Raja for U.S. Senate. "Krishnamoorthi, on the other hand, checks all the boxes for us for this nomination," writes the Daily Herald Editorial Board. "As a congressman, he has earned a reputation for hard work and creative legislating. He is outspoken on matters ranging from Israeli excesses in the Mideast war to compassion for immigrants and a sound, fair national health policy. And on top of all this, he is recognized as one of the most bi-partisan representatives in Congress."
On Tuesday, Raja brought Jaime, a University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) student and constituent whose father was detained for four days in inhumane conditions at the Broadview ICE facility — and then coerced into signing a "voluntary departure" form — with him as his guest to President Donald Trump's February 24 State of the Union Address. "Donald Trump can try to rewrite his record tonight, but communities across America are living with the consequences of militarized immigration operations that have terrorized families and left Americans dead," said Raja. "I'm bringing Jaime, a UIC student from my district, to the State of the Union because what happened to his father is part of a broader pattern of detainees being held in inhumane conditions, coerced into signing away their rights, and denied due process.
On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Raja's bipartisan Skills-Based Federal Contracting Act, legislation aimed at tearing down unnecessary barriers that prevent qualified workers from competing for federal contracting opportunities and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used more effectively. "By focusing on demonstrated skills rather than outdated degree requirements, this bipartisan bill expands opportunity, strengthens our federal workforce, and helps ensure federal contracts deliver the best value for Illinois taxpayers," said Raja.
On Thursday in Illinois' southernmost county, Alexander County Democratic Party Chairman Phillip Matthews announced his endorsement of Raja for U.S. Senate. "In Alexander County, we need an experienced leader who will fight for our values and uplift our communities. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi is that leader, and I am proud to endorse his campaign for the U.S. Senate," said Alexander County Democratic Party Chairman Phillip Matthews.
On Friday, Raja joined CNN anchor Jim Sciutto on CNN International Today to discuss Donald Trump's involvement in the Epstein Files, and the urgent need for transparency. "[Trump] should absolutely testify," said Raja. "President Trump is mentioned numerous times in the files, and of course there are numerous pictures of him as well – he has a lot of explaining to do. In addition, millions of pages of documents have not been turned over, and we need to understand why that has not happened either."
We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's efforts to stand up to Trump and fight for Illinois.
