Like millions of Americans, when I sat down to watch some football this weekend, I wasn't expecting to see taxpayer-funded propaganda.
Ad after ad of Donald Trump, promising to rout the media and liberate America from "villains," with a tag at the bottom: "Paid for by the U.S. Government." That means paid for by you.

The New York Times reports that Trump personally told his budget director to find the money, setting in motion a $20 million contract paid for with funds from the Department of Homeland Security.
Twenty million dollars of your money, spent to make the president look good weeks before an election.
This is dictator behavior. Plain and simple. A president is supposed to serve the public, not use the public's money to sell himself back to it. It's completely beneath the office, and exactly what you'd expect from an egomaniac who is sinking in the polls and can't stand it.
And the bill goes to you and me, while families are already paying more for groceries, gas, and everything else.
The only real check on this is a Congress with the backbone to investigate it: to subpoena the contracts, demand every dollar back, and make sure no president ever does this again.
