Raja Update 10/1

Dear Sandeep,

On Thursday, Congressman Raja joined Governor Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Johnson to celebrate the opening of a brand new job training and business development center for which he secured federal funding. He told WGN TV "the thing I love about Hire360 [the nonprofit operating the training center] is that it's about hiring among the people all around us, and that's going to lead to a movement of Shopping360, Investing360, showering the blessings of peace and prosperity in 360 degrees."

Also on Thursday, Congressman Raja published an op-ed in Foreign Policy magazine about Chinese President Xi prioritizing his own political survival over the success of the Chinese people. Congressman Raja asserted that "China's economy is facing its gravest challenges since the Maoist era amid a collapse in public confidence. Growth has slowed, the unemployment rate is high, and the housing market is tumbling."

Last Monday, the Federal Trade Commission accused pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) of artificially inflating prescription drug prices. Congressman Raja, one of Congress's leading voices against PBMs, told NBC News "On one hand we have PBMs claiming to reduce prescription drug prices, and on the other hand we have the Federal Trade Commission, we have major media outlets like The New York Times and we have at least eight different attorneys general, Democrats and Republicans, who all say PBMs are inflating drug costs."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
