Dear Sandeep,

Yesterday, Congressman Raja joined a bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers in urging the Department of Commerce to examine national security threats from China's development of silicon photonics technology. They wrote that "the dual-use nature of photonics technology makes it particularly susceptible to military end-use diversion by problematic actors."
On Thursday, Congressman Raja and Normal, IL Mayor Koos held a roundtable about the future of Amtrak, high-speed rail, and how federal funding could be a boon for transportation in our communities. He said "If we can enhance its [Normal's Amtrak station's] ability to handle trains and ridership, that will help all the other stations," adding that "high-speed rail has to be where we go to really enhance the experience, at some point. When can we make that leap and what would be required to do so?"
Last Wednesday, Newsweek published Congressman Raja's Op-Ed on reforming the U.N Security Council. He concluded that "reforming the Security Council is no longer an option but a necessity. By working with its allies and partners, the United States can help lead the way in shaping a more just, effective, and representative global order, ensuring that the Security Council remains relevant and responsive to the crises of today and tomorrow."
