Raja Update 11/25

Dear Sandeep,

Last Monday, Congressman Raja discussed U.S.-China relations under a second Trump Administration on CNBC's Squawk Box. In their conversation about tariffing, he argued that "what's really important is to talk about strategic tariffing [on Chinese goods] with regard to those areas where there's economic aggression... For instance dumping of paper, steel aluminum, solar panels, and electric vehicles."

Congressman Raja appeared on the BBC to talk about ongoing developments in the war in Ukraine. In reference to the Biden Administration allowing Ukraine to fire long-range missiles into Russian territory, he explained that "Unfortunately, Putin has gravely escalated this crisis repeatedly—including bringing in 10-15,000 North Korean troops... Given that he keeps raising the stakes, I think it's appropriate that Ukraine has what it needs to defend itself."

On Wednesday, Congressman Raja was interviewed by Ben Meiselas about Trump's cabinet picks. He said, "We have to make sure that we do everything we can to provide some level of accountability and transparency where there will be none offered by the Trump administration."

Congressman Raja joined Bloomberg News to discuss Trump Administration nominees and the future of U.S.-China relations. He criticized the new administration's unwillingness to provide FBI background checks on nominees, saying "The fact that they're not willing to have a background check of [Trump cabinet nominees] tells you that there are some serious flaws with them — not to mention that they're ill-qualified and ill-prepared to do these jobs."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
