Dear Sandeep,
Happy Veterans Day!
Last Tuesday, Raja spoke to Cyberscoop's Derek B. Johnson in an exclusive interview on his fight as Ranking Member on the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party to lay the groundwork to outcompete the CCP in the next frontier of wireless competition. "We have underestimated the impact of 5G and didn't invest enough in our own innovative capacity, or push for domestic and trusted partners to produce that technology and be able to purchase from them," Raja said. "Diplomacy can, and must, play a key role in this strategy."
On Wednesday, Raja helped Illinoisans who were struggling to put food on the table due to the Trump Administration's decision to withhold SNAP benefits by giving out groceries with West Side leaders at an emergency food giveaway at Forty Acres Fresh Market in Austin. "I would not be here but for the generosity of the American people and the goodwill of the government. And so my modest way of giving back is to make sure other people are helped," said Raja.
On Thursday, Raja visited Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights to underscore how President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act — which he calls the "Large Lousy Law" — is endangering access to care for working families and safety-net hospitals across Illinois. Joined by Touchette leadership and front-line staff, Congressman Krishnamoorthi warned that the law's Medicaid and Affordable Care Act funding cuts will drive up costs and reduce essential services in Metro East. "Hospitals like Touchette are the heart of our health care system and the last place that should feel the ripple effects of Washington's cuts," said Raja. "A 78 percent premium increase in Illinois isn't just a statistic; it means parents skipping doctor visits and seniors cutting pills in half. I'll keep fighting to reverse President Trump's devastating Medicaid cuts and extend the ACA tax credits so Illinois families don't pay the price for Washington's dysfunction."
On Friday, Raja sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Attorney General Pam Bondi urging the Trump administration to pursue testimony from Andrew Mountbatten Windsor in connection with ongoing investigations into Jeffrey Epstein's network of sexual abuse and trafficking. In his letter, Raja wrote that "survivors of Epstein's crimes—and the American public—deserve full transparency and accountability from all who may have had knowledge of or participation in this criminal enterprise."
We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's efforts to stand up to Trump and fight for Illinois.
