Raja Update 11/25

Dear Sandeep,

Breaking News: We are so proud to announce that Raja was just endorsed by the Teamsters Joint Council 25, which represents 100,000 workers across 25 local unions. The undeniable labor candidate in the primary, Raja now has earned the support of ten Illinois labor organizations. The announcement was featured in the Chicago Tribune.

Prior to that, Raja had a big week:

On Tuesday, Raja joined Kasie Hunt on CNN to discuss the Senate's upcoming vote to release the Epstein Files. When asked if he trusted that the Department of Justice would be forced to release the files, Raja responded "Not yet. There will be a lot of pressure – however, from not only Democrats but Republicans, members of the MAGA base and others – to release the files in full."

On Wednesday, Raja was formally recognized to speak on the House Floor, where he demanded that Congress block any attempt to grant Ghislaine Maxwell clemency. "This issue is beyond party; it's a question of justice. Survivors have waited too long. Stop the delay, this is not a hoax, release the files," said Raja to fellow members of Congress.

On Thursday, over 110 Black faith leaders endorsed Raja's campaign for U.S. Senate, traveling from across Illinois to stand together on Chicago's West Side and offer a sweeping signal of support. At the JLM Abundant Life Center in East Garfield Park, faith leaders from dozens of congregations stood in solidarity with Raja's vision for creating an Illinois where everyone has a chance to succeed. "We don't need another politician; we need a public servant," said Bishop Shirley Coleman of Spiritual Wholistic Ministries. "I stand here because Raja is such a strong advocate, not only for women's rights, but for people's rights. And we have admired him, we have continued to watch him grow, we have continued to pray with him and for him, and so we know that in D.C., Raja will not just be a Senator, but he will continue to be a public servant."

On Friday, Raja joined Boris Sanchez on CNN to discuss Donald Trump threatening Democratic lawmakers who reminded military personnel that they are not obligated to follow illegal commands. "The economy is softening, [Trump] knows it, even his base is very unhappy with him, he's obviously in trouble because of the Epstein Files, so he's trying to change the topic – so now, he's going after members of Congress for stating what is already the law, which is that members of the military and armed forces should not and must not follow illegal orders," said Raja. "Again, I think this is a big distraction from his own troubles, and that's why he's gone after these lawmakers and my colleagues."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's efforts to stand up to Trump and fight for Illinois.
