From the moment Donald Trump launched his unauthorized war with Iran, I opposed it.
I opposed it because the Constitution does not give one president the power to drag our country into a war whenever he feels like it.
I opposed it because there was no clear strategy, no defined endgame, and no honest explanation of what American families were being asked to sacrifice.
And most importantly, I opposed it because American service members would be the ones placed in harm’s way.
American troops were put in danger.
Billions of taxpayer dollars were poured into another conflict in the Middle East.
And while all of that money was disappearing overseas, families here at home were paying the price every time they pulled into a gas station.
That is not strength. It is reckless, wasteful, and unconstitutional.
I voted for the War Powers Resolution because the power to take this country to war belongs to Congress and the American people, not one unaccountable president.
Now, after months of bloodshed, rising prices, and enormous military spending, the administration is pointing to a tentative agreement and asking us to forget how we got here.
I will not forget.
Equal Opportunity Now was built to support leaders who will stand up when presidents abuse their power, who will protect working families from the cost of reckless decisions, and who understand that patriotism means telling the truth before disaster strikes, not declaring victory after the damage is done.
Will you chip in $25 or $50 today to help Equal Opportunity Now elect leaders who will oppose reckless wars, defend our Constitution, and put American working families first?
