Sandeep - It's Pride Month. And I want to tell you something that's been weighing on me.
LGBTQ+ young people have called, texted, or chatted with the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline's dedicated LGBTQ+ line OVER 16 MILLION TIMES since it launched.
That equals thousands of contacts a day from kids in crisis — kids who needed someone on the other end of the line who understood what they were going through.
Then, the Trump administration shut it down. Even by the low standards of the MAGA Extremist party, this action was particularly cruel.
At a moment when nearly 40 percent of LGBTQ+ youth report seriously considering suicide in the past year, this administration looked at those kids and decided they didn't deserve a lifeline.
That’s why I had to spring into action.
I wrote the bill to fund this service. I led 104 of my colleagues in a bipartisan letter demanding it be protected. We passed the funding. And then this administration turned it off anyway.
This Pride Month, I'm asking you to help us fight back. Equal Opportunity Now exists to elect leaders who will stand up for every American — including the kids picking up the phone at their darkest moment and needing someone to answer.
Will you chip in $25 or $50 today to help us elect those leaders?
