Raja Update 2/14

Dear Sandeep,

We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.

This past week, Congressman appeared on ESPN Sportscenter to further discuss his investigation into the claims of sexual harrassment and toxic workplace culture leveled againt the owner of the NFL's Washington Commanders, Dan Snyder. Commenting on the refusal of the NFL to turn over all requested documents in order to further the investigation, the Congressman said, "There's information that needs to be shared with us and the public. The fact that they're not doing it really speaks to what appears to be some kind of a cover up." The Congressman told ESPN's Koley Harvey that he found the testimony alleging sexual harrassment "compelling, powerful, specific, and extremely disturbing."

The Congressman joined WGN Radio Afternoon News hosts Lisa Dent and Steve Bertrand to discuss the possibility of Russia invading Ukraine. When asked about the latest update, the Congressman told the hosts that "It's fair to say that most of the information we're hearing gives us the impression that an invasion is imminent... this is a horrible situation. We absolutely have to do everything we can to work with our allies to show a united front, and that the cost of invading Ukraine would be prohibitive for the Russians. We want to avert this invasion and war however we can now."

Congressman Krishnamoorthi, along with Republican Congressman Darin LaHood, introduced bipartisan legislation to create a commemorative coin in honor of the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The funds received from the sale of the coin will support the long term maintenance fund of the Lincoln Memorial. Catherine Townsend, President and CEO of the Trust for the National Mall said, "This commemorative coin celebrates the Lincoln Memorial and 100 years of historic events on this iconic site and provides the public with an opportunity to support the long-term preservation of the most-visited site on the National Mall."

The Congressman also joined host David Pakman on the David Pakman show, and the two discussed on the popular YouTube show and podcast the issues of the day including the Ukrainian crisis.

Fox Business reporter Marisa Schultz reported on legislation Congressman Krishnamoorthi is spearheading, the Ban Conflicted Trading Act, which would prohibit members of Congress and senior staff from purchasing and selling individual stocks and serving on a board for any for-profit entity. Reporters noted that the Congressman has been "pushing the legislation for several years and now, after continued reports of members' shady stock dealings, ongoing violations of the current STOCK Act and public pressure, congressional leadership has agreed to take up the issue."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
