Dear Friend,
We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.
Recently, Congressman Raja went on MSNBC to discuss the threat former President Trump caused by retaining classified materials. Highlighting the importance of the review by the Director of National Intelligence, Congressman Raja, member of both the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform said, "I think that following this review of hundreds of classified documents, the Director of National Intelligence will likely brief us - at the Capitol to talk about what she found - and what they're doing to mitigate this damage and how to prevent it from happening again." Reiterating the importance of keeping these documents confidential, the Congressman mentioned, "[T]hat type of information is extremely sensitive. Just so you know, we never review that information anywhere except in a secure compartmented information facility, a SCIF, underneath the US Capitol with armed guards."
On Saturday, Congressman Raja joined Mike Flannery on FOX32's 'Flannery Fired Up!' to discuss President Biden's student debt relief plan. The Congressman told Mike, "I understand the need to give targeted relief, but I'd like to see more done to control the cost of college in the first place so that people don't get into debt. The second concern is one third of Americans have a four-year college degree, but two-thirds do not. And as you know I've spent much of my career in Congress dealing with the post secondary education system that affects these two-thirds of Americans. I modernized with my good friend, G.T. Thompson this entire educational system through the Perkins C.T.E program, but we need to do more". When Mike asked the Congressman about what could be done in Congress, the Congressman told him, "With regards to controlling the cost of college, we should pass my legislation, called the College Transparency Act, which would for the first time repeal the prohibition on colleges and universities and technical schools being able to publish student outcome data by major and school so parents and families can finally shop for college, and the market discipline that's in the competitive marketplace can arrive in the educational marketplace as well".
On August 24, Ukrainian Independence Day, numerous individual leaders within the Ukrainian American diaspora in Illinois announced their strong support for Congressman Raja, thanking him for his work to bolster Ukraine's defenses in the U.S. Congress and for his strong presence in the Ukrainian American community throughout Illinois. "Ukrainian Americans appreciate all that he has been doing in Congress to ensure Ukraine has the means to defend herself from the aggressor." Congressman Raja expressed, "this year, we celebrate with a heavy heart as our friends and allies in Ukraine continue to battle against Russia's vicious, imperialistic invasion. I remain committed to standing with Ukraine, supporting the Ukrainian American diaspora in Illinois, and am honored to be declared the preferred candidate in this race based on my track record of advocacy to bolster Ukraine's defenses during this immense time of need."
