Happy Labor Day!

Dear Sandeep,

Labor Day is not just a long weekend or the unofficial end of summer. On this day, we celebrate the enduring achievements of American workers.

Labor Day originated in the labor rights movement of the late 19th century. At that time, Americans were working long hours just to make ends meet. Workers faced the risk of bodily injury as they toiled away in unsafe working conditions. Child labor was at its peak. The labor movement helped end child labor and successfully advocated for safe and sustainable working conditions for all Americans. We cherish these protections today.

In June 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed a bill into law making Labor Day a legal holiday to recognize the tremendous efforts of American workers in helping to build what is now the world's greatest economy.

We owe a deep debt of gratitude to our workers and others who power our country forward each and every day. So as you celebrate this year, let's remember those who sacrificed so much to earn us the way of life we enjoy, and thank the workers who keep our economy running today.

Thank you again for everything you do to keep America working for everyone.

Happy Labor Day!

Warm Regards,

Raja
