Dear Sandeep,
On Tuesday, Congressman Raja joined fellow Illinois Democrats and Citizen Action Illinois to discuss Trump's proposed cuts to federal spending. He said, "Thanks to the generosity and goodness of the American people… we were allowed to survive and thrive off of food stamps and public housing. I would not be here today if Elon Musk and Donald Trump had anything to do with those problems 50 years ago."
On Wednesday, Congressman Raja met with a roundtable of Peoria healthcare executives and labor leaders to find solutions to the nationwide shortage of healthcare professionals. He said, "The No. 1 job of educators… is to make sure that everyone gets into what I call the greatest social welfare program devised by human beings, which is a J-O-B. We need to get everyone into a job and a middle-class sustaining career."
On Thursday, Congressman Raja joined James Carville and Al Hunt on the Politics War Room podcast to grade Trump's performance in addressing rising grocery prices. He said, "Could you have a grade lower than F? Groceries continue to go up in price at a dramatic [rate]... the price of eggs is skyrocketing right now... and not a single executive order has touched those issues."
On Friday, Congressman Raja joined a roundtable of Chicago community leaders to discuss the Democratic response to the federal workforce reduction. He said, "There is a litigation strategy to be had, both on the inside of Congress, from our committees, but also on the outside, through the state's attorney's general as well as well as not-for-profit organizations."
Later on Friday, Congressman Raja joined MSNBC to discuss the implications of Kash Patel's confirmation and Trump's weaponization of the FBI. He said, "Donald Trump is trying to reshape the government in his image... He's purging people who are not loyal to him... and going to weaponize the FBI to go after people, even outside the government, who he perceives as his adversaries."
