Raja Update 4/1

Dear Sandeep,

On Monday, Congressman Raja joined Lisa Dent on WGN Radio to discuss the massive Department of Education staff cuts. He said, "[The Department of Education] runs the career technical education programs that are vital for our employers… it's important for the 2/3rds of Americans who don't have a college degree to get these skills… I'm very, very distressed about what's going on."

On Tuesday, Congressman Raja joined CNN to call for an investigation into Signalgate. He said, "The fact that no one said 'we should take this to a classified space…' suggests to me that this is happening in other instances…we need to figure out the full extent of this and whether there's been any damage."

Later on Tuesday, Congressman Raja joined Bloomberg to discuss the impact of federal funding cuts on U.S. farmers. He said, "You're taking food away from families — it's not Democratic families, or Independent families or Republican families, it's all families... It's people in all states."

On Wednesday, Congressman Raja joined CNN International to discuss the impact of Signalgate on American military families. He said, "I got a text message from a mom of a sailor who said, 'my son has been instructed not to use Signal for precisely this type of information…' and I think a lot of moms and dads out there with sons and daughters in uniform are going to be looking very critically at this situation for accountability."

On Thursday, Congressman Raja joined WGN's John Williams to discuss Trump's lack of response to the leak of classified information. He said, "These folks are still not taking accountability for what happened… we are fortunate that American lives were not lost."

Later on Thursday, Congressman Raja headlined a rally demanding accountability from the Trump administration for mishandling classified information. In WGNTV, he said, "[Pete Hegseth] has needlessly endangered American service members in a war zone. We are here to say what Hegseth refuses to hear: You are not above the law."

On Friday, Congressman Raja joined CNN to discuss the DOGE cuts, particularly on veterans. He said, "They'll be draconian cuts that will harm the functioning of these agencies — the best example is the 80,000 layoffs scheduled for the VA. This is absolutely going to affect veterans' access to benefits."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
