Raja Update 4/14

On Tuesday, Congressman Raja joined MSNBC to discuss the impacts of Trump's disastrous tariff plan. He said, "The markets are tanking, and my constituents are complaining about their retirement… and college savings drying up… This is exactly what our constituents do not want right now."

On Wednesday, Congressman Raja published an op-ed in Newsweek to regarding Trump's attacks on law firms. He said, "This isn't about right or left. This is about right or wrong… When it comes to our legal system, we should take our cues from the Constitution, not China."

Later on WednesdayCongressman Raja joined NPR to discuss Trump's trade policies. He said, "Export controls work, and we don't have time to waste… Every day America fails to restrict the export of chips designed to circumvent existing controls is a day that our adversaries have to build up stockpiles to defeat us."

On Thursday, Congressman Raja joined WGN TV to discuss Trump's draconian cuts to social safety net programs. He said, "[Trump's tax plan will be] financed by trillions of dollars of cuts to our social safety net — including to Medicaid, including to SNAP... and it is going to hurt millions of families."

Later on Thursday, Congressman Raja joined FOX 32 to discuss the House GOP budget plan. He said, "It will slash $880 billion from Medicaid, $230 billion from food stamps… and a host of other cuts… that total $1.5 trillion in cuts."

Also on Thursday, Congressman Raja joined NewsNation to discuss Trump's trade policies with China. He said, "We are increasing prices on hard-working Americans across the board and putting a big tax on them… Small businesses are saying, 'My input prices are skyrocketing…'"

On Friday, Congressman Raja joined AP News to discuss Trump alienating US allies with his tariffs. He said, "We should be forging stronger coalitions to compete with China. But instead, the Trump Administration is keen on turning our back on the very partnerships that have helped keep the U.S. strong and secure for generations."

On Saturday, Congressman Raja attended a giveaway by the Chicago non-profit Christmas in the Wards to support their mission of giving back to the community. He said, "Love and generosity don't follow a calendar. So when we have Christmas and Easter, all it is is generosity, and generosity is welcome any time of the year."

Later on Saturday, Congressman Raja joined MSNBC to call for a ban on stock trading by members of Congress. He said, "An investigation is warranted. We need to figure out if there was market manipulation or insider trading… I have legislation to ban the trading of stocks by members of Congress. That's what we should do."
