Raja Update 4/29

Dear Sandeep,

On Monday, Congressman Raja sent a letter to Speaker Mike Johnson calling on the House to take up legislation banning members of Congress from trading stocks. He said, "It is our responsibility to ensure that Members are serving the American people and not day trading stocks and profiting from the position to which they are elected."

On Tuesday, Congressman Raja joined ABC7 to discuss the Trump Administration deprioritizing the threat of domestic terrorism. He said, "I don't say this lightly, if there's a terrorist attack anywhere in the country, including in Chicago, and it was because the JTTFs, in part, shifted resources, there will be hell to pay."

Later on Tuesday, Congressman Raja joined WGN radio to discuss technical education programs. He said, "[Technical education programs] are super concerned… a lot of their students are on scholarships, Pell Grants, student aid, and a lot of that is being… scrutinized by the Trump Administration."

Also on Tuesday, Congressman Raja joined an Earth Day celebration in Palatine. Covered by the Daily Herald, he said, "When I see all of you, I don't I see Little City, but I see big hearts and Little City is supported by people with big hearts, but it's also supported by, in part, government funding."

On Thursday, Congressman Raja traveled across Illinois on his "Trump Tariff Tour" to meet with residents and hear their stories about the impact of Trump's disastrous trade policy. Covered in WGLT, he said, "People are very concerned about two words: chaos and uncertainty... Chaos because they don't know who to believe or what is actually the truth about what's going to happen in regard to tariffs. And uncertainty means, less hiring and less investment."

On Friday, Congressman Raja joined CNN to discuss Trump's trade policy and his "Trump Tariff Tour". He said, "I went to a soybean farm that's facing retaliation by the Chinese… I went to a produce market where they are saying 'working families are going to pay five percent more… this is a tax on working families… people are very, very upset."
