Raja Update 7/14

Dear Sandeep,

On Monday, Raja joined The 21st Show to discuss the "Large Lousy Law" and how devastating it is for everyday Illinois families. He said, "200,000 Illinoisians aren't going to have access to food stamps or SNAP benefits… There are various other cuts including to clean energy tax credit programs that's gonna leave 20,000 Illinoisians without a job. All of this is meant to fund tax breaks for the wealthiest among us… it's un-American."

On Tuesday, Raja joined CNN to discuss Trump's disastrous tariffs. He said, "It's TACO Tuesday. Trump Always Chickens Out…The bottom line is it creates great uncertainty for small businesses… including in my district and Illinois…Tariffs pause hiring, they pause investment, it's harder for businesses to get investments, and some are beginning to lay people off."

On Thursday, Raja honored WBBM's veteran political reporter Craig Dellimore for his outstanding career in Chicago Journalism with an official proclamation into the Congressional Record. As reported by WBBM, he wrote, "For 40 years, Craig has exemplified the highest standards of fairness and professionalism in political reporting… Craig brings compassion, clarity, and an unwavering commitment to the truth. His dedication to integrity earned him the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Lisagor Awards, recognition from the Illinois Associated Press, and widespread respect across the state."

On Friday, Raja continued his statewide listening tour with stops in Petersburg, Bloomington-Normal, and Kankakee County. In Petersburg, as covered by 25 News, Raja said, "When you have that many people who all of a sudden don't have a way of paying for their health care, then it hurts all those rural health care providers that depend on Medicaid as a form of payment for so many of their patients." In Bloomington, as covered by WGLT, Raja said, "We have to do everything we can to kind of reverse what's happening in parts of downstate Illinois… And we have to speak to those economic challenges that people have and make sure that we're kind of addressing them squarely."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's efforts to stand up to Trump and fight for Illinois.
