The places that feel like home

A few of my favorite places, and why this city means so much to me.

Hi Sandeep,

Chicago isn't just the city I was born and raised in; it's the place I'm proud to call home every single day. The city where my grandparents and great-grandparents grew up, and where I've raised my kids, too.

When I'm not knocking doors or making calls, you'll usually find me in the neighborhoods and local spots that make this city feel like family. These places are proof of what makes Chicago special: hardworking people, tight-knit communities, good food, great conversations, and a belief that we look out for each other.

Here are a few of my favorite places around Chicago:

📍 Manny's Deli — If you're a dyed-in-the-wool Chicagoan, you've got a go-to order at Manny's. Mine is Matzoh ball soup with noodles, a half corned beef/half pastrami sandwich with spicy mustard, and a side of Friday's gefilte fish as a bonus.

📍 Johnnie's Beef — Chicagoans and tourists alike come here for their dipped beef sandwich with hot peppers.

📍 Erie Cafe — an Italian Steakhouse run by one of Chicago's oldest restaurant families with an unmatched chicken a la verda.

The places and people who helped raise me and my family deserve leadership that shows up, listens, and never stops fighting for them. If you're with me, I hope you'll chip in today to help us keep building this campaign, block by block and neighborhood by neighborhood:
