Raja Update 7/22

Dear Sandeep,

On Monday, Capitol News Illinois published an interview with Raja in which he highlighted his commitment to fighting for working families. In the interview, Raja recalls how his father "instructed my brother and me every night at the dinner table, 'Remember the greatness of this country and whatever you do next, make sure it's there for the next families that need it.'"

On Tuesday, Raja became the first candidate in the U.S. Senate race to launch television ads across Illinois to communicate with voters in every corner of the state. You can watch them here:

Also on Tuesday, Raja discussed his Senate candidacy with Richard Chew on WCPT's Chew's Views. He said, "we have to continue to fight for solutions to the problems that average people face; the more that we are economically-focused, the more that we will continue to get buy-in for other parts of our agenda, and I think now more than ever we've got to stand up to Donald Trump and hold him accountable."

On Thursday, Raja brought national attention to Donald Trump's attempts to defund a crisis hotline for LGBTQ+ youth. At a press conference, he said, "President Trump is undoing the very legislation that he signed into law. Unfortunately, because of this DEI initiative, a lot of LGBTQ+ youth are at risk to D-I-E. They are going to die because an administration is pursuing a political agenda and not an agenda to help people. That to me is malfeasance. Today, on a bipartisan basis, we come together to say, fund the line, save the line, and hold the line."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's efforts to stand up to Trump and fight for Illinois.
