In less than a year into Donald Trump’s second term, he’s already pushed presidential power to the brink. He’s deported citizens without due process. Violated your data privacy. Targeted political enemies while pardoning insurrectionists. Profited off the presidency. And now he’s threatening our Constitution — hinting at a third term and demanding governors redraw election maps to erase Democratic districts. Since his inauguration, I’ve spent every single day holding Donald Trump accountable. I’ve questioned officials in hearings, supported litigation challenging his illegal actions, and even driven cross-country to make sure my vote counted in Congress. But it’s not enough to just fight Trump today. We need to make sure a presidency like his never happens again. That’s why I’ve developed an Executive Branch Accountability Plan — modeled on the post-Watergate reforms that reigned in the presidency after Nixon. Here’s what I’ll fight for as your next U.S. Senator: Protect Americans’ fundamental rights. I’ll fight Trump’s attempt to denaturalize citizens. I’ll demand maximum ICE oversight and require agents to identify themselves. I’ll use my power as Senator to block radical Trump judges in Illinois. End partisan redistricting games. I’ll ban mid-decade redistricting and empower independent commissions. I’ll introduce legislation to ban federal agents from arresting state legislators for not attending sessions. Prevent another January 6th. I’ll propose Constitutional Amendments to rein in pardon power and prohibit illegal third terms. I’ll stop pay-for-play pardons by requiring public discourse and transparency around pardon requests. Stop presidential grifting. I’ll require Presidents and cabinet nominees to disclose their tax returns. I’ll ban former Presidents from lobbying or representing foreign governments. And I’ll end presidential stock trading because no one should be able to pad their portfolio because of their proximity to power. This plan is ambitious but essential.
