Dear Sandeep,
We hope this note finds you well as 2025 comes to a close.
On Monday, Raja partnered with Pastor Kenyatta Smith of Another Chance Church and the Operation Cover Chicago to host a Holiday Toy Drive for tens of thousands of children across the South Side of Chicago. "Events like this also show what's possible when we all come together," said Raja. "I'm so grateful for opportunities like this, where I get to pass on some of the blessings bestowed upon my family during our most trying times."
On Tuesday, Raja joined Michael Steele on MSNOW's The Weeknight to discuss the need for transparency and accountability following the latest release of the Epstein Files. "I'm hearing massive concerns about the chaotic rollout of these documents, the massive number of redactions that have happened, and you know just, stepping back for a second, I think that the reason why there is intense public interest, including among Republicans by the way, is because of the survivors who came forward," said Raja. "There were 1,000+ victims of this child-sex trafficking ring. They were girls at the time of their abuse, and now they are middle-aged women, and they have yet to be served justice."
Later that day, Raja sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel raising serious concerns that the Department of Justice has diverted FBI counterterrorism and counterintelligence personnel away from their core national security missions and reassigned them to support mass immigration enforcement operations, putting the United States at risk. "Over the last year, senior officials have reassigned personnel and assets from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) core national security mission to immigration enforcement, leaving counterterrorism and counterintelligence work compromised and putting our national security at risk," said Raja in his letter.
On Wednesday, Raja issued the following statement to celebrate the Supreme Court's decision toend Trump's National Guard deployment into Chicago: "Today's Supreme Court decision blocking President Trump's attempt to deploy the National Guard into the Chicago area is an important step forward in stopping a clear abuse of his office—but it applies only to this case. I introduced the Stop Trump's Abuse of Power Act to clarify and limit a president's authority to deploy the military or National Guard to any American city and prevent the use of servicemembers as political props. Congress must act to ensure President Trump cannot misuse our servicemembers this way again. Illinois has stood united in opposing this illegal and political deployment since day one, and I applaud Governor Pritzker's leadership as we all fight back together. We will continue to stand united no matter what this administration throws our way."
Later that day, WMBD Peoria's Cameron Maine reported on Raja's Affordability Plan, which lays out Raja's plan to lower costs for working families through policy proposals, including free lunch for every American child, repealing Medicaid and SNAP funding cuts made by the Trump administration, building new childcare capacity, and more. "I'm from Peoria, from Brookwood Lane in Peoria, off of War Memorial," Raja said of his Peoria roots. "I think that is in my DNA, that's part of my roots. I will always think of myself first as a Peorian at heart, even as I have moved to different places in Illinois."
We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's efforts to stand up to Trump and fight for Illinois.
