Dear Sandeep,
As we head into the final stretch of the election, we are grateful for your support. Just yesterday, we announced that we raised an incredible $3.6 million in the last quarter of 2025 – a feat that makes winning this race in under 70 days possible. And that hard work is paying off: Just last week, Charlie Cook, one of the nation's leading electoral experts and founder of the Cook Political Report, highlighted Raja's strengths in the race, calling him the "strong favorite to win the Democratic nomination," further noting that he "would be very hard to stop… it is hard to see any other candidate gaining enough traction to close the gap entirely." Despite our campaign's strong position, we will be running through the tape and working tirelessly from now until March 17th.
Last Monday, Raja spoke to WGEM Quincy's Robby Tucker about the impact of Republican's refusal to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credit, which will drive up health care costs for half a million Illinoisans. "Four million Americans, according to the Congressional Budget Office, are going to lose their health insurance because it's too expensive for them to afford. And then millions more are going to see their premiums skyrocket," said Raja. "I fear that a lot of them will... probably drop out of health insurance as well. It's not like these people won't need medical care, it's just that they'll go to the emergency room."
On Tuesday, Raja joined MeidasTouch host Ben Meiselas on The MediasTouch Podcast for a live conversation on how the cost of living for working families has only gone up under Donald Trump's presidency. "We're seeing a situation where people are going to grocery stores, they don't know what [Donald Trump] is talking about, about a grocery store in Trumbull County that's seeing prices fall like a rock… What they're seeing is prices are skyrocketing. Whether it's on produce, or just daily staple of life – housing, health care, child care, education," said Raja. "And with regard to healthcare, we have 22 million people who are going to see their premiums skyrocket on average of 114%, according to Kaiser Family Foundation."
On Wednesday, Raja joined Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle for a visit to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County on Chicago's Near West Side to highlight the expiration of enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits at midnight on New Year's Eve, and the resulting explosion of health care costs and severe strain placed on Cook County Health and its flagship safety-net hospital. "Letting these ACA tax credits expire isn't an accident — it's a choice," said Raja. "Republican leadership must allow a vote to extend these credits and stop blocking action to protect Medicaid from devastating cuts. Without action, premiums will nearly double, families will lose coverage overnight, and Cook County Health and Illinois taxpayers will be forced to absorb the fallout."
On Friday, Raja joined CNN anchor Jim Sciutto on CNN to discuss the latest Epstein email revelations and the need for transparency. "There are whole categories of documents that have not been released, that are perhaps the most revelatory about what happened in this child-sex trafficking ring," said Raja. "We're talking about witness memoranda that would actually name co-conspirators, we're talking about financial records. Remember, this is a 1 billion dollar child-sex trafficking ring. So you have numerous transactions, and we need to be able to see those documents to be able to follow the money – who paid whom for what, and when."
On Saturday, Raja joined MS NOW host Ayman Mohyeldin on The Weekend: Primetime to discuss the Trump Administration's latest actions in Venezuela concerning Nicolás Maduro. "[My constituents] don't want to be part of a civil war in Venezuela, they don't want to occupy Venezuela, they don't want any part of another Iraq or Afghanistan scenario in Venezuela," said Raja. "And that's in part why a War Powers Resolution must come to the floor – we must debate it, and if the Republicans want to occupy Venezuela, they need to go and debate that in Congress and get the will of the American people behind them."
We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's efforts to stand up to Trump and fight for Illinois.
