On Tuesday, Congressman Raja appeared on Fox News with Neil Cavuto to talk about the debt ceiling deal. On the deal, he stated that he was "very disappointed to see Chairman Perry virtually whip against it and have the House Freedom Caucus do the same. That's not responsible. The alternative to this deal is default, let's be very clear about that. That'd be disastrous and the only people who'd be rooting for it is the Chinese Communist Party."
On Wednesday, Congressman Raja published an op-ed in the Chicago Tribune about how we can win the economic contest with China. He writes that "as we think about how to put America on track to win this competition, we need to focus on three P's: people, production and partnerships," going on to note that "America's biggest economic strength has always been its people."
In a Thursday letter to the editor in the Daily Herald, Congressman Raja spoke out about presidential pardon reform. He said that "there are many problems with the presidential pardon system that our country's founders may not have foreseen," noting in particular that "pardons can be delivered in secret, without the press or public being informed."
Also on Thursday, Congressman Raja joined John Williams on WGN Radio to talk about why he supported the debt agreement. While not a perfect bill, the Congressman noted that it not only "avoids economic catastrophe and default," but also "suspends the debt ceiling situation until January 2025, protects social security, medicare, the military, and enhances benefits for veterans."
