As the first openly lesbian mom in Congress, I know firsthand what it's like to have to fight for equal treatment and basic decency. This year, my Republican colleague Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said that adoptive parents, step parents, LGBTQ+ parents, or anyone not biologically related to their children aren't "real" parents. A disgusting and outrageous attempt to strip us of our humanity. Our campaign is up against a lot right now. From the National Republican Congressional Committee's mounting attacks, to a rise in hatred towards LGBTQ+ elected officials like me, we need to send a clear message that Democrats everywhere are standing with the LGBTQ+ community – and we're ready to take back the House in 2024. For the first time in history, the Human Rights Campaign has officially declared a state of emergency for LGBTQ+ people in the United States in 2023. More than 75 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been signed into law this year alone, more than doubling last year's number, which was previously the worst year on record. As bigots and opponents of LGBTQ+ rights gain momentum, our work to keep MN-02 blue becomes that much more critical. As one of only 11 openly-LGBTQ+ Members of Congress, I will undoubtedly be a target. And last year, I hung onto my seat with just 51% of the vote. In a race that close, grassroots support from our team made all of the difference in propelling us to victory.
Thank you so much for your support, Rep. Angie Craig (MN-02)
