Dear Sandeep,
On Monday, Congressman Raja joined PBS to discuss Trump's economic policies impacting Illinois residents. He said, "You already see [Illinois] property developers and other businesses complain about rising prices. You're going to see this with residents too as they pay more for everything that they are buying on a daily basis."
On Tuesday, Congressman Raja joined WGN Radio to discuss Trump's unprecedented trade war with our allies. He said, "[Trump's trade war caused] retaliatory tariffs on our farmers... on our products from Illinois. Now two bad things are happening, a tax hike in the form of higher prices... and our farmers are gonna get hit... because their stuff won't sell in Canada."
Later on Tuesday, Congressman Raja spoke with Fox32 about America's legal immigration system and its benefits to immigrants, Americans, and the American economy. He said, "I want to make sure our legal immigration system is here for generations and Americans benefit as a consequence."
On Wednesday, during a hearing of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Congressman Raja defended Chicago and Illinois from Republican attacks. Joining CBS News, he said, "Chicago sometimes becomes a punching bag for my Republican colleagues [but] we're routinely named the best big city in America by Condé Nast ... We should not take any slander from [Trump] laying down."
Later on Wednesday, Congressman Raja joined NewsNation to further discuss the hearing, specifically the impact of the US immigration system. He said, "How do we fix our border, how do we fix our legal immigration system? I'm an immigrant... I've lived the American Dream thanks to the generosity and goodwill of the people of America... [immigration] is the secret sauce of what makes America exceptional."
On Thursday, Congressman Raja joined CNN's One Thing podcast to discuss the looming government shutdown. He said, "[Trump] is causing pain and shutting things down right now, regardless of the will of the people… he announced he's going to abolish the Department of Education. Are you… kidding me..? This is the kind of nonsense we're seeing come out of the White House."
On Saturday, Congressman Raja joined a roundtable of federal, state, and local leaders to discuss protecting Medicaid and Social Security. In KSDK he said, "[Trump's budget cuts are] harming people and you're harming their ability to live... [Medicaid] is the only source of health care for millions of adults throughout the country… When you're talking about taking away people's healthcare, you're basically taking away their ability to live and, again, for what purpose?
