Dear Sandeep,
We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.
Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi spoke with CNN on Saturday about the new Covid relief bill that passed the House this weekend. "Almost 80% of Americans support this bill, including 60% of Republicans … I think much of it is going to pass intact, and it can't come a day too soon because, as you know, families are hurting, businesses are struggling, and of course, we need to get everyone vaccinated and tested, and this particular bill provides essential relief in all those regards, and so we just gotta get it done."
Congressman Raja also spoke with MSNBC about the Covid relief bill, particularly the need for state and local aid. "The piece that I've been spearheading and that Republican mayors, Democratic mayors, others bring up repeatedly with me is state and local aid ... this $350 billion in state and local aid is vitally needed to prevent a cut in services or a hike in taxes during this pandemic, and this is one piece of the package that is brought up to me repeatedly by both my constituents as well as elected officials on both sides of the aisle."
Congressman Krishnamoorthi also spoke with WGN about the USPS Postmaster General and Trump ally Louis DeJoy, who the Congressman questioned this last week over the struggling performance of the Postal Service. "Since Mr. DeJoy took over, 2-day first class mail has gone from 90% on-time delivery down to 70%, and then non-local mail, which is supposed to arrive in 3 to 5 days, has gone from 80% on-time performance to now 40% on-time performance, and the change was when Mr. DeJoy instituted all kinds of delivery changes." The Congressman was also quoted in the Daily Beast, characterizing Louis DeJoy's conduct during the hearing: "I thought he approached a lot of our questions with that exact same attitude, which was one of sneering condescension … That's not gonna fly, man. Not gonna fly."
