Raja Update 4.12.21

Dear Sandeep,

We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi appeared on Chicago Tonight to discuss the prospect for bipartisan cooperation on the new infrastructure bill. "We are open to negotiations on everything at this point. I hope that we can negotiate, whether it's about the package regarding locks, dams, and dredging our rivers, whether it's about upgrading our internet capacity, or whether it's about putting more electric vehicle charging stations so we can finally have more electric vehicles on the road."

WGN also interviewed the Congressman about President Biden's new executive actions focused on gun safety. "The President is correct that Congress has not acted. I think that Congress deserves part of the blame here. I think what the President is doing today with these executive actions is recognition that Congress has not done enough."

Additionally, Fox 32 wrote about Congressman Krishnamoorthi's investigation into Youtube Kids. "As many parents know, YouTube Kids can be a useful tool to pacify and entertain children—and, we wish, to educate. However, YouTube appears to be exploiting children by serving them a non-stop stream of low-quality, commercial content. More must be done to protect children from exposure to marketing and too much screen time."

As a result of Congressman Krishnamoothi's investigation, the FDA last week announced a concrete plan to restrict the presence of toxic heavy metals in baby foods. The Environmental Working Group praised this announcement, but criticized the FDA for moving too slowly. They urged Congress to move ahead with Congressman Krishnamoorthi's legislation.

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
