Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi wrote an op-ed in The Hill on Wednesday condemning the Sackler family and CEO Craig Landau for the role Perdue Pharma played in exacerbating the opioid crisis. "I urge President Biden to right this terrible wrong and hold members of the Sackler family and Dr. Landau personally accountable. The new Biden Justice Department must bring charges as soon as possible. Let's do justice on behalf of hundreds of thousands of American families and demonstrate that, no matter how wealthy, no one is above the law."
The Congressman also discussed with CBS his investigation of potentially $84 billion in fraudulent business loans made by the Trump administration. "Upwards of $70 billion in [Emergency Injury Disaster Loans] ... were made to businesses with duplicate I.P. addresses, email addresses, duplicate bank account information, and duplicate mailing addresses. There was one email address in one instance that was associated with 10 different bathroom renovation companies. Later, when they went to discover whether or not those companies existed, they did not, and in fact, that email was associated with a burrito restaurant."
On Friday, Congressman Krishnamoorthi shared his thoughts on MSNBC about the recent attack on the Capitol that left one officer dead and another injured. "I personally believe that the Capitol Police need reinforcements right away, and we should do everything in our powers to add the personnel that they require."
The Congressman's Baby Food Safety Act was also featured last week in the National Law Review. The bill aims "to dramatically reduce toxic heavy metals in baby food, educate parents about the risks, and invest in cutting edge farming technology to reduce any economic barriers to making baby foods safe for consumption."
