Let’s talk about David and Goliath.
In the 2026 version of this story, Goliath is Elon Musk.
Musk spent $290 million to help elect Donald Trump. This cycle, he has already given $366 million to keep Republicans in control of Congress, and $276 million of that came in just the last three months. That’s about $3 million a day, every day, since July.
A lot is at stake for him. House Democrats are calling for investigations into his government contracts. Draw your own conclusions.
You know how the story goes. A giant in full armor, a shepherd with a sling, and everyone’s betting on the giant.
Musk can buy airtime. He can even buy a field program; his super PAC is authorized to spend up to $120 million on one. What he can’t buy is the neighbor who knocks on a door for free because she’s sick of waiting for someone else to fix our problems.
On Monday, I spent the day in Bloomington and Peoria with some of those neighbors. The volunteers I met weren’t there for a paycheck. They were there because they care.
That’s the whole idea behind Equal Opportunity Now. We don’t have a trillion-dollar fortune. We have a team of Democrats who know how to win close races, and thousands of people chipping in what they can.
David didn’t try to match the giant’s armor. He played a different game with what he had. That’s our plan too. He has the money. We have the neighbors, the volunteers, and the voters, and on November 3, the voters decide.
Chip in $10 or $20 right now and help us win it the way American elections are supposed to be won: one neighbor, one conversation, one vote at a time.
