Donald Trump took the stage in Highland Heights, just outside of Cincinnati. He droned on about my opponent (if you heard what he said, you know what I mean) and attacked “Jared Brown.”
The name you’re looking for is Sherrod Brown. And in 17 days, I’m going to be Ohio’s next U.S. Senator.
Look, at this point we can expect all sorts of nonsense at these MAGA rallies – and we're getting it. It’s clear that Donald Trump is taking any chance to spew lies and deceive voters to get guys like my opponent over the finish line.
But my name isn’t the only thing that Donald Trump got wrong at his rally today. He’s missing the entire point. Public service isn’t supposed to be about theatrics. It’s supposed to be about making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Ohioans see more money going out the door, and not enough money coming in. Gas and diesel prices are through the roof. The same pill in the U.S. costs double what it does in another country. Data centers are devouring our water and energy while Ohioans are left to foot the bill.
It’s no shock that Trump spent this rally trying to distract from real issues – issues he's had a heavy hand in creating. His accomplishments for working families or a plan to solve any of these issues? Nonexistent. He doesn’t have any record to talk about, so his rallies are packed to the brim with lies and nonsense.
Donald Trump spent the afternoon fear mongering, making up stories, and distracting, distracting, distracting. I’ll tell you now: Donald Trump has no authority to promise every American $5,000 if Republicans hold onto the Senate chamber.
To Donald Trump and Jon Husted, serving in office is just about power. If you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.
We need leaders who will fight to unrig this system. Right now, we’re left with Jon Husted and Donald Trump in charge.
These Trump attacks tell us that Trump is worried about us flipping this seat. He wouldn't bring Ohio up, lob attacks my way, and try to boost my opponent if he didn't think it would work out for him. So that means we have to stay focused.
I’ll conclude this on a more hopeful note, since I’m sure you didn’t want to spend your Monday morning reading about the latest bizarre comments from Donald Trump.
The other side is counting on schemes, outside money, and empty promises to win. You and me? We’ll win the right way – by sharing our message with as many Ohioans as will hear it.
The data shows time and again that our campaign has the momentum we need. If we can sustain it for the next 17 days, we will flip this seat.
That’s the challenge ahead of us now, and it’s a big one. We’re up against $317 million of Republican spending from Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and dark money groups. We’re never going to be able to match them dollar for dollar, but we can do enough to keep this race competitive and spread the word far and wide.
When thousands and thousands of people get involved, the effect is so much greater than one super PAC or Trump rally.
I’m grateful to have you on board. If you’ve already gotten involved in this campaign, thank you. If you haven’t yet and are waiting for the best time, I hope you’ll take this as your sign to donate to my campaign and Equal Opportunity Now. Every donation, door knocked, or conversation will put us closer to winning this.
