Dear Sandeep,   This week, Congressman Raja and colleague Rep. Judy Chu wrote an op-ed for USA Today emphasizing the importance of combating Asian-American hate crimes and discrimination as the U.S. competes with the Chinese Communist Party. The lawmakers wrote, "If we seek to compete – against China or any other country – let's remind the world who we are at our best: a country that welcomes millions of Asian Americans and gives us an opportunity to succeed and the freedom to weave our identities into the American fabric. It's that strength that will carry us confidently into the future. An America that can outcompete anyone, anywhere, will be an America where Chinese Americans and all Asian Americans feel safe to build, innovate and do what every other immigrant group has done over the course of American history: realize the American dream."    On Wednesday, Congressman Raja joined Wolf Blitzer on CNN to discuss the House Republicans' debt ceiling bill. Congressman Raja told Wolf, "This bill is dead on arrival. It basically cuts funding for science, education, health care, and even renewables, including the electric vehicle tax credits that my constituents and others are relying upon to buy their next EV's. This particular bill is going nowhere, but we should extend the debt limit, we should increase the debt limit, and pay our old bills. That is what the American people want us to do." The Congressman later explained, "Just to make it very clear, any increase in the debt limit merely authorizes us to pay our old bills for goods and services that were already rendered in the past. That means that if we did not increase the debt limit, we would not pay our bills, and it would amount to a national dine-and-dash. That would be catastrophic for the full faith and credit of the dollar and would nuke our economy."       Recently, Congressman Raja spoke to Roll Call about screening American investments in China's technology sector to ensure that U.S. national security isn't put at risk. The Congressman said, "Outbound investment into certain industries or sectors may end up being used against us, especially in those areas where there's military-civilian fusion of technology. But, again, I think that we need to take a scalpel to this as opposed to a sledgehammer."
