Happy 4th of July! Today we celebrate the freedom of our great nation, as more than 245 years ago, America declared independence from colonial rule.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all [people] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Even as our nation faces challenges, we all stand united by the truth of these words. The rights for which America's founders fought are rights that we must fight to protect now more than ever. Today is a day for celebration of the great progress that we've made together, even as we reflect on how much further we need to go.
Finally, I'd like to thank you. Thank you for your overwhelming support that has allowed me the privilege of representing you in Congress. It's the honor of my life to do so, and I'm greatly appreciative of your support.
Please be well, and Happy Independence Day once again!
