Raja Update 7/25

Dear Friend,

We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.

This week, Congressman Raja joined Jake Tapper on CNN to discuss the recent wave of mass shootings across America and the need for immediate gun reform. "These mass shootings have profoundly real consequences for real families and real people," Congressman Raja told CNN host Jake Tapper. "We should at the least raise the minimum age for purchase, but I've also cosponsored a bill to ban the sale of these AR-15 weapons, and I think that it's time that we seriously look at that, because in mass shooting after mass shooting, we see the same types of weapons of war doing the same types of destruction."

Congressman Raja recently joined WGN Radio to discuss price gouging and the ongoing infant formula shortage. The Congressman told WGN hosts, "There is too much of this happening with regards to food prices generally – they've increased prices upwards of double digits and their net profits have soared 300-500% over the last year and a half." Congressman Krishnamoorthi further discussed these companies "raising prices under the cover of inflation" and having such strong control of their industries that "other competitors aren't able to enter and lower prices."

Congressman Raja joined MSNBC to discuss the news that President Biden was diagnosed with COVID, experiencing only mild symptoms due to his vaccination status. The Congressman said that, "I'm glad that he is taking the antiretroviral drug, Paxlovid. I took it, members of my family took it, it's safe, and it's very effective." Congressman Raja also noted that Paxlovid "helps to combat the possibility of long COVID... folks that take this Paxlovid treatment are able to stay out of the hospitals and to see their symptoms slightly milder than otherwise."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
