Today, on Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's birthday, we're sending a special note to thank you for all of your support. Public service is truly the north star and guiding mission of our office, and supporters like you are the fuel that drives our team forward.
To highlight Congressman Raja's service, here's a recent clip of his appearance on MSNBC with host Ayman Mohyeldin where, due to his position on the House Intelligence Committee, he was called upon to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Congressman Raja said: "My constituents care about what happens in Ukraine, I think the vast majority of Americans care, I personally believe that the vast majority of Americans believe that the Ukrainian people are fighting for democracy all over the world, not just in Ukraine and that we will stick by the Ukrainians through thick and thin and we will not cave to Putin."
Congressman Raja is also continuing his work as a champion for the community here in Illinois' 8th district with the announcement that he secured funding for a Schaumburg police mobile response unit that will address mental health crises. Congressman Raja told reporters: "Despite the courageous efforts of our police officers, resources are stretched thin... This mobile response unit will tackle the complex issues of mental health and substance abuse by using multidisciplinary approaches that are proven to provide effective de-escalation through welfare checks, emergency counseling, and transportation to treatment centers. Protecting our community demands we provide our first responders with the resources they need, and this program will do precisely that."
