Dear Friend,
We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you enjoy a safe July 4th holiday!
On Tuesday, Congressman Raja secured a landslide victory in the Democratic Primary for Illinois' 8th Congressional District, winning 71% of the vote. "I am honored that the Democratic primary voters in Illinois' 8th Congressional District voted, in an overwhelming and decisive fashion, in support of my re-election campaign for Congress," said Congressman Raja. "My constituents want peace, progress, and prosperity. In Congress, I have fought to grow the middle class, fight for women's reproductive rights, and combat inflation and increasing gas prices. I will continue to work tirelessly to address these issues in the important months ahead. We now turn our attention to November, where our fundamental freedoms and human rights are on the ballot."
The congressman also appeared on WBBM News Radio this week to celebrate the Illinois primary victories of Asian American candidates that he supported with his endorsement. Congressman Raja told reporters: "What's very interesting is that Asian Americans are really finding their political voice. They're voting in bigger numbers, they're getting involved in political causes, and of course, they're running for office and they're winning. Just in the General Assembly alone, we have Kevin Olickal, Nabeela Syed, Hoan Huynh, Sharon Chung, Janet Yang Rohr, Theresa Mah, all of whom won their primaries."
The congressman recently expressed his outrage at the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. He called the Court's decision a "tragic, devastating rollback of nearly half a century of progress and precedent in protecting reproductive rights, the right to bodily autonomy, the right to privacy, and the rights of women more broadly."
