Raja Update 1.25.21

Dear Sandeep,

We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.

This last week marked the historic inauguration of President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and Vice President Kamala Harris. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi had the great privilege to attend the inauguration: "I think there was a little bit of trepidation, a little bit of concern, especially given the enormous security presence that exists here on Capitol Hill, but once we got into the event, it was so refreshing to see Republicans and Democrats kind of mingling with each other, with some optimism and good cheer. And I think everyone collectively breathing a sigh of relief that you have a new president."

Congressman Raja also spoke with the Greg and Dan Show about the challenges ahead and what comes next for the Biden presidency. "I think the first step is going to be Joe Biden basically saying he's the president for all the people, regardless of whether they voted for him or not, and that he wants to begin a time of healing, and he wants to start by trying to get us through this pandemic in one piece. I think those notes would be a welcome reminder that we're all Americans in this together."

Congressman Krishnamoorthi spoke with WGN earlier last week about the security concerns at the inauguration and those responsible for the storming of the Capitol: "I think we have to prosecute them to the full extent of the law; I think that there's no choice, and I think wherever they reside, wherever they have travelled to, the local authorities cooperating with the federal authorities have to find them and hold them accountable."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
