Raja Update 1.5.21

Dear Sandeep,

We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi spoke with MSNBC on Sunday about the certification of the presidential election results in Congress on this upcoming Wednesday and the effort by the President and certain Republicans to overturn the election results. "There's no way possible that any of these objections are going to be sustained, certainly not in the House and I suspect not in the Senate either, and so we all know the outcome, which is Joe Biden is once again going to win yet another election, in this case the certification election, on his way to becoming President. But the damage along the way is what Republicans will be doing and basically trying to cast away millions and millions of ballots from Americans whose votes deserve to be counted."

Congressman Raja also spoke with WGN earlier last week about the push to increase stimulus checks and the prospects for further legislation under the Biden administration. "The bottom line is there are more than 10 million people unemployed, there are millions of families that need the money -- they need it now." Regarding the potential for further relief under the Biden administration: "I do think there's a broad consensus within the middle of Congress, and I point to a lot of Republicans as well who agree that we need to continue to help working families, we need to help schools, we need to help with the vaccination distribution process as well as help struggling businesses, and I think that if we spend our time working on those issues, I think there's going to be tremendous agreement."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
