This week, Congressman Krishnamoorthi joined MSNBC with host Ali Velshi to discuss the ongoing situation in Ukraine. The Congressman said, "It's a very grim situation and in the face of it the people of Kiev starting with President Zelenskyy on down, have shown such courage and determined resistance against the invading Russians. It's up to us, Ali, to make sure that there are corridors open to Kiev so we can supply as much armaments and food and other essential items so they can defend themselves and remain where they are." 

The Congressman also spoke with WGN radio's Lisa Dent and Steve Bertrand about Ukraine. Lisa asked the Congressman what is being done in the face of especially heinous recent attacks by the Russians and the Congressman responded, "First of all we have to condemn in the strongest terms the insidious barbaric attack on a maternity hospital in Mariupol, in Ukraine, by the Russians -- completely unacceptable, it's a war crime. Last weekend, one week ago, I had the privilege of participating in a zoom call with President Zelenskyy, with other members of Congress, and his point was this: either enforce a no-fly-zone or provide me with the fighter planes to fight back Russian air assets." The Congressman went on to call for the provision of planes to enable the Ukrainian people to defend their skies.

The Congressman spoke to reporters this week after a significant reduction in the funding for global vaccination efforts was announced. When reporters asked for a reaction, Congressman Krishnamoorthi, "My biggest concern at this point is that we have to get something supported by 10 Republicans in the Senate.. The White House is out of money at this point to fight the global vaccination war, and they're running on fumes to fight the domestic Covid war. How could we possibly leave ourselves in this position?"
