Dear Sandeep,
Happy Independence Day! Today we celebrate the freedom of our great nation, as 248 years ago America declared independence from colonial rule.
The Declaration of Independence reminds us that "all [people] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."
We are living in a time of great change. We have the tremendous opportunity to move our society forward and build a nation that more closely lives up to the ideals set forth in the Declaration. Now, more than ever, we must fight to protect and expand the rights that our founders envisioned two centuries ago.
On this holiday, let us celebrate the great strides that we have made as a nation, but also reflect on how much further we have to go—and how we can get there, together.
Finally, I want to thank you for your overwhelming support. It is the honor of my life to represent you in Congress.
