Over the past month, after a period of historic drought, California has been pummeled nearly nonstop with rain — triggering more than 500 mudslides and deadly flooding across the state. Last year, we passed the Inflation Reduction Act – making critical investments to reduce emissions and make our infrastructure more resilient to extreme weather. But still, we need to keep pushing to pass more legislation that will tackle the root causes of extreme weather and end the climate crisis. But right now, a significant number of Republicans in Congress do not accept climate science and refuse to take legislative action to protect the future of our planet.
